Why go any further for an excursion when Mainz itself offers a true treasure-trove of historical monuments? A guided tour through the Cathedral, the Gutenberg museum and the old city will reveal the historic treasures of Mainz.

For over a millennium, the towering Cathedral of St. Martin has dominated the skyline of Mainz and played an important role in city and national history. A few minutes' walk from the Cathedral, the Gutenberg museum remembers Mainz's most famous son. Among its main attractions are the historical printing press, and an original copy of the bible printed on it. The tour will lead you on through the historical city centre with its Fachwerk houses and picturesque corners to the church of St. Stephan on its hill above the city, which harbours the only church windows by Marc Chagall in Germany.
